Garbanzo beans, or “chickpeas,” are part of the legume family. Instead of having the flat oval shape, they are rounder than most beans and are usually a pale cream colour.

These garbanzo beans are grown here in North America by Chickplease and are of the Kabuli variety. Chickplease is run by the third generation of Zaibek family who have been in business since 1971 in Stockton California, originally as Sultan Agro. Following a Canadian crop failure in 2023, Cullen’s sourced exclusively US-grown chickpeas from the Zaibek family and their network of family growers. Cullen’s Foods believes in total transparency – enter the lot code from the bulk bag to cullensfoods.com/#tracking to find out who grew it, when it was harvested, and where it was packed.
