As its name indicates, the Brazil nut is indigenous to South America. Some of its common names are cream nut, para-nut, castanheiro do para, castania, castana-de-para, and castana de Brazil. Brazil nut trees can live up to ages of 500-800 years, and can grow to around 50m. The nuts are rich in selenium, protein, phosphorus, and magnesium.
