In their home country of Algeria, Nassima and Benyoucef owned a few trees, producing just enough Deglet Nour dates for their friends and family. When they moved to Canada with their three children back in 2008, they found that a lot of the dates offered in Quebec were dry, and that their favorite variety was basically impossible to find. Taking the matter into their own hands, they founded MYDATTE in 2018 and partnered up with an Algerian cooperative . The cooperative groups a few organic producers, and that was very important for Nassima and Benyoucef, who firmly believe that going pesticide-free is the best choice for the environment and our health. The Deglet Nour date is grown in the Tolga oasis in Algeria and is harvested once a year in the months of October and November.
